1. Earning Trust Through Performance in the Field: Supporting Field Operations at Sea in Singapore
When Sea and Land Technologies Pte Ltd (SALT) needed a reliable portable power solution to support public-sector field operations in Singapore, performance had to be proven where it mattered most, on site.
We had been supporting SALT with power solutions, but introducing Instagrid for this application meant demonstrating that it could meet the demands of real-world field operations.
The Challenge
Changing an established solution requires more than product specifications and promises. The technology needed to demonstrate clear, practical advantages under actual operating conditions.
For SALT and the end user, this meant evaluating Instagrid directly in the field before deciding whether it was the right solution for the application.
Putting the Solution to the Test
Four Instagrid ONE units were deployed for field evaluation, where they were used to charge surveillance equipment.
The equipment had previously relied on a bulky, heavy battery that was not weather-resistant. With limited space on board and exposure to challenging weather conditions, the application called for a power solution that was compact and portable, weather-resistant, reliable and emission-free.
Throughout the tests with Instagrid units, several practical advantages stood out:
- Lightweight and easy for a single operator to transport and deploy
- Rugged design suited to demanding outdoor environments
- IP54-rated for use in challenging conditions
- Consistent and reliable power delivery throughout testing
- Quiet operation with zero local emissions
- Minimal setup and straightforward operation
These characteristics provided the portability, reliability and operational flexibility required for the application.
Supporting the Evaluation
Throughout the evaluation, our team worked alongside SALT and the end user during the field trials, providing on-site technical support and ensuring they could evaluate the units confidently under actual operating conditions.
For us, introducing a new solution is not simply about supplying equipment. It is about understanding the application, supporting customers through the evaluation process and allowing the technology to demonstrate its capabilities in the environment where it will ultimately be used.
The Result
Following the successful field trials, SALT and the end user selected Instagrid ONE as the preferred solution. Four units were subsequently supplied for the application.
The evaluation demonstrated that when customers are considering a change from an established solution, specifications alone are rarely enough. Real-world performance, backed by the right technical support, provides the confidence needed to make that change.
